Tai Chi (Taiji)

For health and happiness

Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese martial art used to develop physical and mental health by coordinating body movement with breath and calm focus. It’s recognised for its slow, flowing movements. It is practised worldwide by people of all ages and stages of health who feel the benefits of this famous moving meditation.

Taiji 37 a very powerful tai chi style

The Taiji37 form is based on principles from NanPai taiji (taijiquan originating from Siming Mountain in Zhejiang province, Southern China). The form cultivates specific powers and has it's own functions. You learn to activate the lower dantian, an area in the lower abdomen that acts as the heart or engine room of the body’s energy system.

New this autum - learn the Taiji 13 form

This is a shorter form that is quick to learn. It teaches us to stand in our own space with movements in all eight directions. With awareness on our intended direction, body and mind become steady and clear.

Tai Chi offers a gentle physical exercise proved in many medical studies to benefit the entire body and immune system. Better balance, energy and mobility develop with practice. In a recent study, comparing Tai Chi to brisk walking, the martial art was found to be significantly better at reducing blood pressure and other risk factors for heart disease, like blood sugar levels and cholesterol.
By the end of a class students comment on feeling lighter, brighter and more relaxed.
